Server Rules

Maintaining a quality roleplay environment for all players in Onyx County.

All members are expected to read and understand these rules before participating in roleplay.

Last Updated: April 2026

Onyx County Rules

Core standards for the Onyx County community.

Onyx Staff will enforce a strict code of conduct within our community and take all necessary actions to ensure it remains a safe, respectful, and enjoyable space for everyone.

Community Conduct

Sexual harassment, personal attacks, derogatory or discriminatory comments, and toxic behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in removal from all platforms.

Roleplay Standard

Players are expected to prioritise immersive, story driven roleplay. Every interaction and decision should contribute to meaningful and enjoyable narratives.

In-Character Justification

All actions must have valid in-character justification. Excuses such as “it’s just the way my character is” will not be accepted.

Server Setting

Onyx County is based in the year 1901. All characters, actions, and roleplay should remain appropriate to that setting.

Staff Authority: Onyx Staff reserve the right to issue warnings, temporary bans, or permanent bans at their discretion for any reason they deem appropriate.
Server Standard: If a situation is not written word-for-word in the rules, staff may still act on behaviour that clearly harms immersion, fairness, or the wider community.

Discord Rules

Rules governing conduct within the Onyx County Discord server.

  • Do Not DM or Tag Staff
    • Staff are here to help, but please use the ticket system instead of sending private messages or tagging them. This way your issue won’t get lost, and the right people can offer support promptly.
  • Be Respectful
    • Treat others the way you’d want to be treated. It’s fine to disagree, but keep conversations polite and constructive. No name calling, personal attacks, or starting arguments.
  • No Harassment or Hate
    • Everyone deserves to feel safe here. Harassment, bullying, discrimination, or hate speech in any form is not allowed. This includes offensive jokes, slurs, or targeting someone based on personal traits.
  • No Unsafe or Unwanted Links
    • Don’t share ads, scam links, phishing attempts, or NSFW content.
  • Use the Correct Channels
    • Each channel has its purpose. Posting in the right place keeps things organised and easy to use for everyone.
  • Discord Nickname
    • Your Discord nickname must clearly reflect your character’s name. This helps staff and other players identify you easily during roleplay.
    Requirements:
    • If you play a single character, your full character name must be used
    • If you play multiple characters, you may use the first names of each character
    • PO numbers are allowed alongside your name
    • Your nickname must be clear, readable, and not misleading or abbreviated
    Allowed

    John Smith

    John / Rufus

    John Smith | 735

    Not Allowed

    JS

    Cowboy123

Note: Your nickname must always clearly represent your character(s). Staff may request changes if it is unclear or does not meet these requirements.

General Requirements

Requirements for joining and participating in roleplay.

Age Requirement

You must be 18+ to join. If you’re under 18, you’ll need prior approval from staff.

Microphone Requirement

A clear, working microphone with push-to-talk enabled is required.

Language

English must be spoken at all times. This keeps things consistent so everyone can communicate and fully participate.

Voice RP Only

All roleplay here is voice based. Written or silent roleplay isn’t allowed.

Character Creation Rules

Rules for creating and maintaining your character.

Thoughtful Character Creation

Creation
  • Create a well developed backstory, personality, and appearance
Appearance
  • Must fit the 1901 setting
  • Clothing and hairstyles should remain realistic and immersive
Restrictions
  • Outfit and hair scripts must be used responsibly
  • No unrealistic or immersion-breaking appearances

Unique and Appropriate Names

  • All names must be original
  • No references to base game characters, celebrities, brands, memes, or joke names. If this is not followed, your character may be deleted with no warning.

Characters Must Be 18+

  • All characters must be adults
  • Playing as a child is not permitted

Roleplay Rules

Rules governing roleplay behaviour, immersion, and scene integrity.

  • Third-Party Voice Chats
    • You may be in a third-party voice chat (such as Discord) while playing on the server, however you must remain deafened at all times while in county.
    • All roleplay communication must take place in-game to ensure all players have equal access to information and can fully engage in the roleplay environment.
    • Being undeafened, relaying information, or using voice calls to gain any in-character advantage is strictly prohibited.
This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Being undeafened in a voice call while actively in county
    • Relaying information to others outside of the game
    • Receiving information from players not present in the scene
    • Using Discord, TeamSpeak, or any external voice platform to influence roleplay
    Not Allowed

Being undeafened in a Discord call and receiving information about an active situation.

    Not Allowed

Calling a friend in Discord to tell them you are being robbed so they can come help.

    Not Allowed

Staying muted in-game while speaking to others in a private voice call during a scene.

    Allowed

Being in a Discord voice channel while deafened and not using it to influence in-game actions.

Warning: Being in a voice call is permitted only if you remain deafened. If you are found undeafened, relaying information, or using voice calls to metagame, this will result in punishment.
  • Stay in Character / OOC Talk
    • You must remain in character at all times while in the server. Out-of-character (OOC) communication during active roleplay is not permitted.
    • All actions, speech, and reactions must reflect your character and the current roleplay situation. Breaking character to influence, argue, or control a situation is not allowed.
    • If you encounter an issue, you must continue the scene realistically and submit a ticket afterward. Do not break character to resolve situations.
This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Avoiding out-of-character comments during roleplay
    • Not using game terms, mechanics, or real-life references in speech
    • Not threatening reports, rules, or staff involvement mid-scene
    • Maintaining immersion even during tense or confusing situations

Need help with in-character terminology? Please refer to the Welcome Guide.

    Not Allowed

Saying “that’s against the rules”, “I’m reporting you”, or referencing staff during a scene.

    Not Allowed

Talking about server mechanics such as restarts, menus, or systems during roleplay.

    Not Allowed

Breaking character to argue, complain, or influence the outcome of a situation.

    Allowed

Using subtle in-character language such as "Newspaper" (Discord equivalent) to maintain immersion.

    Correct Behaviour

Continuing the scene in-character and raising concerns via a ticket afterward.

Important: OOC talk used to gain an advantage, avoid consequences, or disrupt roleplay will be treated as Fail RP and may result in further action.
  • AFK During Scenes
    • Do not go AFK during active scenes or while waiting for Law or Medical response.
    • Being inactive during these moments is considered Fail RP.
This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Going AFK while downed or awaiting medical treatment
    • Leaving during active law enforcement interactions
    • Ignoring ongoing roleplay due to inactivity
  • Character Switching
    • You may not switch characters while involved in an active scene or ongoing storyline.
    • A scene is considered active until it has fully concluded, including follow-up roleplay such as investigations, medical treatment, or continued interactions.
This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Switching to avoid arrest, injury, or retaliation
    • Returning to the same scene on another character
    • Using another character to gain information or advantage
    • Leaving a situation unfinished and rejoining on a different character
    Not Allowed

Switching characters after committing a crime to avoid being identified.

    Not Allowed

Changing characters to influence the same scene.

    Allowed

Switching once a scene has fully concluded.

Note: Character switching must never be used to avoid consequences or gain advantage.
  • Re-Engagement After Being Downed
    • If your character is downed during a scene, you cannot re-engage in combat for at least 20 minutes.
This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Returning to the same fight after being revived
    • Rejoining the same group conflict shortly after going down
    • Using downtime to reposition and re-enter combat
  • Restart Restrictions
    • Major criminal activity is not permitted within 30 minutes of a scheduled server restart (storm).
    • This prevents disrupted scenes, unfair outcomes, and loss of roleplay continuity.
This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Robberies, kidnappings, or hostage situations
    • Bank, train, or location-based crimes
    • Large-scale or coordinated scenes
    • Ambushes or major conflict initiation
    Allowed:
    • Scenes already in progress before the window
    • Passive or low-impact roleplay
    • Unplanned, non-escalated interactions
    Not Allowed

Starting a robbery shortly before restart.

    Not Allowed

Escalating into a gunfight that cannot conclude in time.

    Allowed

    Continuing an already active scene.

Note: The restart window is not a safe zone.
  • Hogtie Restrictions
    • You cannot break out of hogties unless assisted, given permission, or left unattended for at least two minutes.
This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Breaking free instantly without roleplay
    • Ignoring restraints during active scenes
    • Failing to respect restraint mechanics
  • Character Separation
    • Your characters must remain completely independent and must not share knowledge, assets, or storylines.
This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Sharing information between your characters
    • Transferring money or items
    • Using third parties to move assets
    • Storing items for another character
    • Creating indirect links between characters
    Not Allowed

Using another character to recover items or money.

    Allowed

Playing completely separate characters with no overlap.

Note: Any attempt to bypass this rule will be treated as a breach.

Fair Play Rules

Rules that ensure fair, immersive, and respectful roleplay for all players.

  • Do Not Combat Log
    • You may not log out from the server to avoid the outcomes of any scenarios.
    • You must wait 15 minutes after committing a crime before disconnecting. This allows other players to react and gives Law the opportunity to investigate and roleplay the situation properly.
  • Do Not Meta Game
    • You may not use any out-of-character information to influence your in-character actions.
    • Your character may only act on information they have personally gained through roleplay within the county.
Meta gaming includes, but is not limited to:
    • Using information from Discord, streams, clips, or outside conversations
    • Acting on information your character did not witness, hear, or learn in roleplay
    • Tracking players or locations through out-of-game methods
    • Relaying information between friends or between your own characters outside of roleplay
    Not Allowed

Seeing a robbery discussed in Discord and then riding there in-game to involve yourself.

    Not Allowed

Recognising a masked person because you know the player behind the character.

  • Do Not Power Game
    • You may not force outcomes, abuse mechanics, or perform unrealistic actions that remove or limit another player’s ability to roleplay.
    • Roleplay must remain fair, balanced, and allow both sides a reasonable opportunity to react.
Power gaming includes, but is not limited to:
    • Forcing actions onto another player without giving them a chance to respond
    • Using game mechanics to guarantee a win or avoid consequences
    • Performing unrealistic actions that would not reasonably be possible in the situation
    • Ignoring injuries, restraints, or environmental limitations
    Not Allowed

Instantly knocking someone out, tying them up, or forcing an action without giving them time to react.

    Not Allowed

Using game mechanics (menus, animations, or spam actions) to escape a situation or gain an unfair advantage.

    Not Allowed

Acting as if injuries do not affect your character, such as sprinting or fighting normally after being seriously wounded.

    Not Allowed

Forcing outcomes through roleplay text or voice (e.g. “I knock you out” without allowing the other player to respond).

Note: If your actions remove another player’s ability to respond, react, or influence the outcome, it is likely considered power gaming.
  • No Random Deathmatch (RDM)
    • You may not inflict injuries or knock out another player without prior roleplay or a valid in-character reason.
  • No Vehicle Deathmatch (VDM)
    • You may not use a horse, wagon, or other vehicle as a weapon to intentionally injure or down another player.
  • Do Not Deny RP
    • You may not refuse, avoid, or shut down roleplay in a way that prevents a scene from progressing naturally. All players are expected to engage with situations realistically and allow roleplay to develop.
    • You must provide reasonable responses, actions, and reactions that allow others to participate and continue the scene. Intentionally avoiding or bypassing roleplay is considered Fail RP.
This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Ignoring players or refusing to respond during active interactions
    • Using game mechanics, menus, or actions to avoid roleplay
    • Instantly fleeing or disengaging without realistic reasoning or response
    • Refusing to engage with Law or Medical during valid situations
    • Ending or bypassing a scene without allowing it to naturally conclude
    • Using out-of-character excuses to avoid roleplay outcomes
    Not Allowed

Ignoring someone attempting to roleplay with you or refusing to acknowledge them.

    Not Allowed

Running away from a situation with no realistic reaction or roleplay.

    Not Allowed

Using menus, respawning, or game mechanics to avoid interaction or consequences.

    Not Allowed

Refusing to speak, respond, or participate in a scene without valid in-character reason.

    Allowed

Engaging with the situation realistically, even if the outcome is not in your favour.

    Allowed

Responding in-character and allowing the scene to progress naturally.

    Reasonable Demands:

When holding someone at gunpoint or under duress, demands must remain reasonable and within the spirit of roleplay. Players may refuse any demand that is sexual, degrading beyond reason, or bizarre in nature without it being considered denying roleplay.

However, this does not allow players to refuse reasonable commands simply because they do not want to comply. Fear for Life still applies.
Note: Roleplay is a shared experience. If your actions prevent others from participating or progressing a scene, it will be treated as denying roleplay.
  • You Must Fear For Life (FFL/NVL)
    • When your character’s life is clearly threatened, you must act realistically and value your life.
    • If you are at a clear disadvantage, you are expected to comply unless you have a reasonable and believable opportunity to resist.
    You must comply when:
    • You are held at gunpoint with no immediate advantage
    • You are outmatched with no realistic way to escape or fight back
    • You are caught off guard without preparation
    You may resist when:
    • The aggressor’s weapon is lowered
    • The aggressor’s attention is clearly broken or diverted
    • You have a clear and believable advantage
    • You prepared for the danger beforehand and it makes sense in roleplay
Clarification: Being outnumbered alone does not automatically decide the outcome. Staff will consider positioning, awareness, readiness, and whether a realistic opportunity to act actually existed.
    Not Allowed

Refusing to comply while held at gunpoint and saying “that’s what my character would do.”

    Not Allowed

Turning and shooting while multiple people already have weapons trained on you with no opportunity to react.

    Not Allowed

Running directly into gunfire or escalating a situation with no regard for your character’s safety.

    Not Allowed

Showing no fear for your life by saying things like “just shoot me” or acting overly aggressive while at a clear disadvantage.

    Not Allowed

Taunting, provoking, or “talking down” to individuals who have you at gunpoint without a realistic reason or advantage.

    Allowed

Complying with demands when clearly at a disadvantage, then looking for an opportunity later in the scene to act realistically.

    Allowed

Resisting when the aggressor becomes distracted, lowers their weapon, or gives you a believable opportunity to react.

Important: “That’s what my character would do” is not a valid justification for ignoring Fear for Life. Character behaviour must still align with realistic survival instincts and the standards of the server.
  • Do Not Fail RP (FRP / NITRP)
    • You may not perform actions that break immersion or behave in a way that is unrealistic for the server, scene, or time period.
    • All actions must make sense for the situation, your injuries, your surroundings, and the setting of Onyx County in 1901.
    • You may not use a status such as “AFK,” “on the phone,” or similar to indicate inactivity. Statuses must be used responsibly and must not break immersion for other players.
Fail RP includes, but is not limited to:
    • Acting unrealistically or ignoring the situation around you
    • Using out-of-character excuses to avoid roleplay
    • Ignoring injuries, restraints, or consequences
    • Breaking immersion through behaviour, appearance, or actions
    Not Allowed

Continuing to run, fight, or act normally after sustaining serious injuries.

    Not Allowed

Shooting or continuing to attack a player who is already downed without valid roleplay reason.

    Not Allowed

Trash talking, mocking, or speaking unrealistically while downed or critically injured.

    Not Allowed

Using phrases or behaviour that break immersion, such as referencing game mechanics, rules, or real-life context.

Important: Once downed, your character is considered critically injured. Your behaviour should reflect this — excessive talking, joking, or unrealistic actions may be treated as Fail RP.

Technical & Gameplay Mechanics

Rules ensuring fair gameplay, system integrity, and equal conditions for all players.

  • Bug Reporting
    • All bugs, exploits, and glitches must be reported immediately.
    • Abusing them will not be tolerated.
    Not Allowed

Using a duplication bug or broken mechanic to gain money, items, or an in-character advantage instead of reporting it.

    Allowed

Stopping use of the bug and reporting it to staff as soon as possible.

  • Prohibited Software
    • The use of third-party software such as mod menus, auto-clickers, crosshairs, or soft aim is strictly prohibited.
    • Any software that provides an unfair advantage undermines fair play.
    Not Allowed

Using crosshair overlays, macros, soft aim, or external tools that improve accuracy, reactions, or gameplay performance.

  • Graphics
    • Using graphics packs or other modifications to lower your settings for a gameplay advantage is not allowed.
    Not Allowed

Changing graphics to remove darkness, fog, shadows, or environmental effects so you can spot players more easily.

    Allowed

Adjusting normal game settings for performance, as long as it does not give you an unfair gameplay advantage.

  • Strafing / Speed Boosting
    • Abusing desync to make your character lag, teleport, or gain an unfair advantage in gunfights or other situations is not allowed.
    Not Allowed

Spamming movement or abusing desync to create unrealistic movement that makes you harder to hit.

  • Voice Changers
    • Voice changers are allowed only if they produce a realistic and natural sounding voice.
    • Heavily distorted or unnatural voices are not permitted.

Reporting

Guidelines for submitting rule violation reports to staff.

Rule Violation Reports

  • All reports must be submitted within 48 hours of the incident and must include clear, unedited video evidence.
  • Evidence must show the full context of the situation.
  • Clips that are trimmed, cut, or missing the beginning or end of a scene will not be accepted.
Evidence Requirements:
  • Video clips must be unedited and continuous
  • The clip must show the lead-up, the incident, and the outcome
  • Audio must be included where relevant
Not Accepted

A clip that only shows the moment of a shooting without what led up to it.

Not Accepted

Edited or trimmed clips that remove context before or after the incident.

Accepted

A full, continuous clip showing the entire interaction from start to finish.

Note: Reports submitted after 48 hours, or without valid unedited evidence, will not be reviewed.

Criminal Roleplay

Rules governing crime, hostages, and fair criminal roleplay.

Scene Player Limits Rule

  • Maximum Participants
    • A maximum of 6 players may actively participate per group in any interaction or hostile scene.
    • Before an interaction begins, each side must make a reasonable effort to limit their participants to six individuals.
    • No more than six players may actively engage on behalf of their group or allies.
    • This limit applies to all active involvement, including combat, positioning, support, or any actions that influence the outcome of the scene.
    Allowed

A group selects 6 members to take part in a robbery or conflict.

    Not Allowed

More than 6 players from the same group actively engaging, assisting, or influencing a scene.

  • Third-Party Involvement
    • Players not involved in the initial scene must not intervene unless directly initiated through roleplay.
    • A group may not join a scene simply to assist one side, provide numbers, or involve themselves without a valid in-character reason.
    • If legitimately brought into a situation, a new group may form their own side with up to 6 participants.
    Allowed

During a 6v6, one side initiates on another nearby group, creating a 6v6v6. For example, Gang X has 6 people fighting Gang Y, then 6 Law arrive, thus creating a 6v6v6.

    Not Allowed

Arriving at an active scene to assist one side without being initiated on.

Note: Joining scenes purely for combat, numbers, or opportunity will be treated as a rule breach.
  • Large Group Exception
    • If a group larger than 6 is already gathered in a non-hostile setting and is initiated on, all present members may defend themselves.
    • By initiating on a large group, the attacking party accepts the risk of engaging more than six opponents.
    • This only applies if the group was naturally present and not formed to bypass limits.
    • Groups in high-risk areas are expected to organise up to 6 participants in advance where reasonable.
    • This exception does not allow reliance on excessive numbers without prior organisation.
    Allowed

A group of 10 socialising is attacked and all defend themselves.

    Allowed

A group of 8 lawmen identifies 6 active participants before conflict.

    Not Allowed

Gathering more than 6 players intentionally to bypass limits.

    Not Allowed

Claiming the exception without organisation in a predictable conflict.

Note: This exception is for natural situations only. Staff will assess intent, preparation, and context.
  • Captures and Scene Development
    • Numbers may change naturally during a scene due to captures or detainment.
    • This does not automatically make the scene a rule break.
    • The limit applies to how many participants are brought into a scene, not how numbers change during it.
  • Flexibility for Larger Scenes
    • Larger scenes are allowed if all involved sides agree and staff are notified beforehand.
    Requirements:
    • A representative from each side must open a ticket
    • Staff must be notified that limits are being voided for that scene
  • Realistic Hostages
    • The hostage must be unaware of robbery plans and must genuinely fear for their life.
    • Fake hostages or staged situations where the victim is involved are not allowed.
  • Time Limits
    • A hostage cannot be held for more than 30 minutes of real time.
    • This may only be extended with explicit consent from the victim.
Note: These rules ensure fair, balanced, and manageable scenes. Attempts to bypass limits through coordination, positioning, or technicalities will be treated as a breach.

Conflict & Combat Rules

Rules governing how combat and hostile interactions must be initiated and conducted.

  • Clear Communication Required
    • You may initiate conflict or combat while already aiming a weapon at someone.
    • You must clearly communicate your intentions in character before acting.
  • Verbal and Intent Requirements
    • Both verbal commands and a clear intent to act must be present.
    • You cannot draw a weapon silently and attack without giving the other player a reasonable chance to respond.
  • Verbal Initiation for All Scenes
    • Verbal initiation is required for all combat encounters.
    • This includes camp raids, hideout raids, ambushes, and similar scenarios.
    • Shots or attacks may not be performed without proper in-character initiation.
    Valid Initiation

“Hands up now or you’re getting shot,” while clearly presenting an immediate threat.

    Invalid Initiation

Pulling a weapon, saying something vague, and instantly opening fire.

  • Announcement of Shooters
    • All shooters outside, on rooftops, or in hidden positions must be announced to other players involved in the scene.
  • Combat Avoidance
    • You may not enter locked or instanced buildings as a way to avoid combat.

Robbery and Killing Rules

Rules governing robbery limits, protections, and encounter outcomes.

  • Separation of Actions
    • In a single encounter, you may either rob or kill a player, but not both. The only exception is if lethal force is needed for self-defense.
  • Player Robbery Guidelines
    • You may take all cash, one weapon, and up to three stacks of items per player.
Clarification: Being robbed does not make a player immune to further roleplay. Victims must continue to value their life and act accordingly. If a robbed player escalates, resists, or behaves in a way that would realistically justify further action (including being shot), it will not automatically be treated as a rule break.
Important: Robbery limits apply per victim, not per robber.
    Not Allowed

Three players rob one person and each take a weapon, cash, and items. The limit applies to the victim, not each robber.

    Not Allowed

A player is robbed, then immediately becomes aggressive, refuses to comply, or provokes the situation and claims protection from harm because they were already robbed.

    Allowed

A group of 5 players is held up. Each player may be robbed for the full allowed amount individually.

    Allowed

A robbed player continues to act realistically and may face further consequences if they escalate or create a new threat.

  • Horse and Wagon Robbery Guidelines
    • You may take one weapon and up to three stacks of items per horse or wagon.
Important: These limits apply per horse or wagon, not per player participating in the robbery.
    Allowed

Multiple wagons are present — each wagon may be looted within the allowed limits.

    Not Allowed

Multiple players looting the same wagon and each taking items beyond the allowed limit.

  • Combined Robbery Rule
    • You cannot rob a player and then subsequently rob their horse or wagon to bypass the limits.
  • Robbery Time Limits
    Player Robberies
    • Group and individual robberies have a 60 minute cooldown between robberies.
    • You may not rob the same player or group again until the next server restart.
    • You may not repeatedly target the same individual or group in a way that disrupts their ability to roleplay, even if a cooldown has technically passed.
    Location Robberies
    • Store, Bank, Gallery, Grave, Fort, and Train robberies have a 60 minute cooldown between locations.
Note: The cooldown applies between robberies regardless of the target. These rules are in place to prevent repeated targeting and to allow fair roleplay opportunities for all players.
  • Bank and Property Restrictions
    • You cannot force players to hand over items from bank accounts, homes, businesses, safe deposit boxes, or Law/Medical inventories.
  • Menu Safety
    • You cannot rob or take a player hostage if they are actively using a menu.
    • Players also cannot enter or remain in a menu to avoid being robbed, taken hostage, or to delay a situation.
    Examples of menus include:
    • Job Inventory or Item Menus
    • Shop or Vendor Menus
    • Wardrobe or Outfit Menus
    • Stable or Horse Management Menus
    • Crafting or Interaction Menus
    • During Animations such as Wagon Deliveries
    Clarification:
    • Being in a menu does not grant protection if it is used to avoid or delay roleplay
    • Entering a menu once a situation has begun or is about to begin is not allowed
    • Passive prompts or interaction menus are treated the same as full menus
    • Deliberately remaining in a menu to stall, avoid, or gain advantage is considered denying roleplay
    Not Allowed

Opening your inventory or shop menu to avoid being robbed or delay the situation.

    Not Allowed

Remaining in a wardrobe or stable menu while being held up to avoid interaction.

    Not Allowed

Entering or staying in a menu when you are aware a situation is about to occur.

    Not Allowed

Initiating a robbery on a player who is clearly inside a menu and unable to respond.

    Allowed

When a player is not currently in a menu, then you may begin interaction and/or initiation.

Note: This rule applies to both sides. Menus must not be used to gain an advantage, avoid roleplay, or exploit situations. Staff will assess intent and whether the menu was used in good faith.

Law & Medical Roleplay

Rules governing interactions with Law Enforcement and Medical.

  • Mandatory Participation
    • All players must actively participate in Law and Medical roleplay. You should act realistically and follow the context of the scene to ensure the roleplay is engaging and enjoyable for everyone.
    • If a doctor is present in or around their office, injured or downed players must wait for the doctor to assist them. Using an NPC doctor in this scenario is not allowed and will be considered denying roleplay.
    Not Allowed

Ignoring nearby active doctors and using an NPC doctor to skip interaction.

    Allowed

Waiting for available medical staff and engaging in roleplay treatment.

  • Communication While Downed
    • You may communicate with the medical team and other players while downed to enhance roleplay.
    • However, you must act out your injuries realistically and avoid trash talking, excessive talking, or breaking immersion.
    Not Allowed

Joking, shouting, or speaking normally while critically injured.

    Allowed

Speaking in a limited, injured manner to assist roleplay.

  • Corruption and Misuse of Official Roles
    • If your character holds a whitelisted position such as Law, Medical, or DOJ, they may not engage in corruption, criminal activity, or misuse of their role for personal or external gain.
    • This includes any abuse of authority, access, or resources tied to your position.
This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Stealing from Law, Medical, or DOJ ledgers, stashes, or official inventories
    • Using your position to benefit yourself, friends, or criminal groups

    • Medical staff are not required to treat individuals in unsafe conditions and may delay treatment until the scene is secure.

Identification Rules

Rules governing how players may identify one another during roleplay.

  • Voice and Accent
    • You may not identify another player solely based on their voice or accent.
    • Recognition must come from in-character interactions, not familiarity with a player’s real voice.
    • Voice may be considered as part of identification only if the individual is not wearing a mask.
    • Masks are considered a tool that muffle or disguise a person’s voice.
    • Even when a player is unmasked, voice alone is not sufficient for positive identification and must be supported by additional visual or contextual evidence.
    Not Allowed

Identifying someone based solely on their voice without any supporting visual or in-character evidence.

    Not Allowed

Identifying a masked individual based on their voice alone.

    Allowed

Using voice alongside clear visual traits and prior in-character interaction to support identification.

Note: Voice familiarity is considered out-of-character knowledge unless supported by clear in-character context. Masks are designed to protect identity and must be respected as such.
  • Visual Identification
    • You may identify another player based on clear and visible traits that your character would realistically notice.
    Examples include:
    • Facial features such as face shape or eye colour
    • Hairstyles or hair colour
    • Height, build, or general appearance
    • Clothing, outfit style and tattoos
    • Weapon cosmetics or unique gear
    • Horses or wagons
    • Identification should be based on a combination of clear and consistent traits.
    • Relying on a single feature alone, such as hair colour or general appearance, is not sufficient for positive identification.
    Allowed

Recognising someone by a distinctive outfit, weapon, horse, and physical appearance you have seen before.

    Not Allowed

Identifying someone solely based on one feature, such as hair colour, height, or general build.

    Not Allowed

Making assumptions about identity without multiple clear and supporting visual traits.

  • Masks and Concealment
    • Masks are intended to conceal identity and must be respected as such when used correctly.
    • If a player is properly masked, their identity should not be assumed unless there is strong and reasonable in-character justification.
    Allowed

Being unable to identify a masked individual unless you have clear supporting information.

    Not Allowed

Identifying a masked player based on voice, assumption, or out-of-character knowledge.

Note: Identification must always be reasonable and justified within roleplay. Guessing or assuming identities without proper context will be treated as a rule breach.

Prohibited Roleplay

The following types of roleplay are not allowed.

  • Sexual Assault / Rape
    • This type of roleplay is strictly forbidden under all circumstances.
  • Slavery
    • Any form of slavery or forced ownership of another character is not permitted.
  • Supernatural
    • Roleplay involving supernatural elements (e.g. ghosts, magic, immortality) is not allowed, as it does not fit the 1901 setting.
  • Pregnancy
    • Pregnancy roleplay is not permitted.
  • Torture
    • Only permitted if all involved parties give explicit out-of-character consent beforehand.
    • Torture includes actions that would permanently alter a character, such as removal of limbs or irreversible damage.
  • Hitman / Assassin
    • Roleplaying as a hitman or assassin targeting other players is not allowed.
    • This includes taking payment or acting on requests to kill another player as a service.
    • This does not include organic roleplay situations where individuals become involved in conflict naturally.
  • Suicide / Self-Harm
    • This type of roleplay is not permitted under any circumstances.
  • ERP (Erotic Roleplay)
    • Explicit sexual roleplay is not allowed.
Important: Attempting to disguise, imply, or indirectly engage in any prohibited roleplay will still be treated as a breach of this rule.

Posse Camps

Rules governing where posse camps may be placed.

  • Posse camps must be placed in reasonable and immersive locations that do not interfere with common gameplay areas or other players’ roleplay.
Posse camps should not be located near:
  • Legendary hunting spots
  • Popular landmarks
  • Towns
  • Main roads or paths
  • Properties you do not own
  • Mining spots

Placing a camp in a remote or low-traffic area that does not interfere with other players or key locations.

Not Allowed

Note: Camps should not be used to block access, gain an unfair advantage, or control key areas of the map.

Hideout Rules

Rules governing the placement and use of hideouts.

  • Hideout Placement
    • Hideouts must be placed near a door and in a location that is reasonable and immersive.

  • Discovery and Investigation
    • Hideouts can be discovered and investigated by other players through the door prompt system.
    • Players should place hideouts with the understanding that they are not completely hidden or protected.
Allowed

Placing a hideout in a logical building or structure that fits naturally within the environment.

Not Allowed

Placing a hideout in an unrealistic or hard-to-access location to avoid discovery or gain an advantage.

Note: Hideouts are part of roleplay and are not intended to be completely secure or undiscoverable.

Duels

These rules govern dueling to ensure fairness, safety, and immersion during combat interactions.

Play Fighting Duels

  • Location
    • Play fighting duels must be conducted out of sight of towns and other players.
  • Outcome
    • Players involved must respawn after the duel and should not alert a doctor for this.
Allowed

Two players agreeing to a friendly duel in a remote area and respawning afterward without involving medical.

Not Allowed

Conducting play fights in towns or populated areas where it disrupts other players.

Real Duels

  • Permanent Outcome
    • Real duels result in the loser permanently killing their character. This decision is final and cannot be reversed.
  • Consent
    • You are not obligated to agree to a duel. Both parties must willingly agree to the terms before the duel begins.
  • Location
    • Real duels may take place in town or in front of other players, provided they remain fair and immersive.
Allowed

Two players clearly agreeing to a duel, understanding the permanent consequences beforehand.

Not Allowed

Forcing or pressuring another player into a duel they do not wish to take part in.

Not Allowed

Attempting to avoid character death after losing a real duel.

Important: Real duels are a permanent character decision. Ensure you fully understand the consequences before agreeing.

Character Bleed

Rules to keep in-character situations separate from real life.

  • Separation of Character and Player
    • Do not allow in-character situations to affect your real-life feelings, behaviour, or interactions with others.
  • Out-of-Character Influence
    • Do not let out-of-character emotions, opinions, or personal relationships influence your character’s decisions or behaviour.
  • In-Character Conflicts
    • Conflicts, rivalries, or arguments must remain strictly in-character and stay within the county.
  • Respect Roleplay Boundaries
    • Everyone is playing a character — treat roleplay as roleplay, and do not carry it outside the game or into Discord or real-life interactions.
Not Allowed

Holding grudges against players outside the game based on in-character actions or conflicts.

Not Allowed

Changing how your character behaves because of out-of-character feelings or personal disagreements.

Correct Behaviour

Keeping all conflict and emotion within roleplay, while remaining respectful and separate out of character.

Note: Character bleed can negatively impact both roleplay and the community. Always separate your character’s story from real-life interactions.
