Welcome to Onyx County — currently set in 1901. This guide is your primary resource for getting started.
Use it to get your basics sorted, understand how common systems work, and avoid the most common new-player mistakes.
Rules always take priority
Get Your ID
One of the first things you should do after arriving in County.
Register Telegrams
Set up your P.O. number so you can be contacted in character.
Learn the Rules
Use the rules pages for anything official or if you are ever unsure.
Learn Commands
Knowing the basics early makes your experience much smoother.
Important:
If this guide conflicts with the official rules, the rules take precedence.
Community Conduct
If you encounter issues, finish the current scene first, then reach out to staff via Discord using a Support Ticket or Player Report.
Video clips are strongly recommended when filing a report.
Smooth Experience Tips
- Take breaks when needed in General > OOC Chat.
- Update your Discord name to match your in-county character’s name for clarity.
- Discord communication is OOC/META and should not be used in-character.
Crime Has Consequences
Crime is your choice — but be prepared to roleplay realistic outcomes.

Chapter 2
First Steps in County
These are the everyday systems most players interact with early on.
Needs & HUD
Keeping yourself fed, hydrated, and healthy is part of daily life in County.
- Keep food and hydration topped up.
- You can buy consumables from stores, saloons, market stalls, or craft via your personal crafting book.
- Overexertion may require nourishing food or medical attention.
- Some substances can increase hunger/thirst and cause impairments requiring medical assistance.
Dust Meter Note:
RedM only allows 20–25 people in one area. The fuller the circle, the busier the area and the higher the chance of issues.
HUD Icons
You can toggle icons on/off and change their colours. Here’s what each represents:
- Player Health
- Player Stamina
- Player Hunger
- Player Thirst
- Microphone (change range with Page Up)
- Temperature
- Horse Health + Horse Level
- Horse Stamina + Horse Level
- Dust Meter / OneSync
Identification Cards
Identification cards are legally required. Get yours at the National Registry Office located at major town train stations.

Go to the National Registry Office
Visit one of the major town train stations and locate the Registry Office.

Enter your details correctly
- Date of Birth: Must be at least 18 years before 1901.
- Weight: Enter the number only — KG is automatic.
- Height: Enter the number only — CM is automatic.

Add your image link
Use a Discord image link. Upload image → right click → copy link → paste with CTRL+V.
Telegrams
The most reliable way to stay in touch is the Telegram System.

Find a Mail Office
Visit a train station with a Mail Office, marked with an envelope icon.

Register your P.O. Number
Approach the counter and use Press G for Mail. Register your personal P.O. number and share it with others.

Use proper formatting
The Enter key does not create line breaks in telegrams. Use <br>.

Chapter 3
Daily Essentials
These are the systems and habits that will affect your everyday life in County.
Buying a Horse

Go to a stable
Find a stable hand grooming a horse and stand nearby.

Open the Horse Store
Press E to open the Horse Store. Pick your horse and payment method.

Select your active horse
Before calling your horse out, click the Horse icon at the top of the menu, then the Crown icon to select it.

Look after it properly
- Food: Buy at any stable.
- Water: Lead horse with Hold RMB + E, then at a water trough press G.
- If injured: call a horse trainer or visit a stable.
Medical Care
Support Services
- Doctor: /calldoctor
- Horse Trainer: /callstables (horse revival only)
Important Notes
- Only call once you’re sure you won’t be moved.
- Use /calldoctor for medical roleplay, not just a quick revive.
- You’ll be notified of queue position and doctor distance once accepted.
- No cost for doctor treatment.
- If you respawn instead: 8 minute wait + lose 10% of money in pocket.

Making Money
There are plenty of ways to earn in Onyx County — from odd jobs to careers.
- Check town pinboards for citizens needing help with odd jobs.
- Explore the map for delivery jobs, escort missions, contracts, and potential oil field work.
- Visit local businesses — some buy select resources.
- Ask around about business ownership and opportunities.
- Government job applications are in Discord under County Services > Onyx Job Applications.

Saving Money
Banks keep your money safe — but remember: they’re local.
- Most towns have a local bank. Use them to protect money from criminal activity.
- Banks are not connected across towns — deposits and withdrawals are per-location.
- Review rules around Criminal Roleplay in Discord under Important Information > Rules.
- Banks are marked on the map with a bank icon.
Chapter 4
Progression & Opportunities
Once your basics are sorted, these systems help you build out your life and progression in County.
Camps vs Outfitters
Outfitter Shops
- Use /outfitter to place or use items.
- Personal-use items only, while you’re awake.
- Temporary: disappear during a storm, but remain available via the command.
- Cannot be used with a camp setup.
Camps & Camp Flags
- Buy camp flags at Government General Stores.
- Placed camps are permanent bases accessible to your posse.
- Review camp placement requirements in Discord under Important Information > Rules.
- Upgrades come from Camping Stores, not Outfitters.
Important:
Keep camp funds in the separate tax ledger — storing money elsewhere risks losing your camp.
Real Estate
Home ownership is a goal for many — and opportunities are available now.
- Locate an unsold home and contact the Realtor to begin the process.
- Homes require regular deposits into the tax ledger.
- Businesses and ranches are taxed through the main ledger in their own menus, not a separate tax ledger.

Visit the Real Estate Office in Blackwater and set an appointment with your name, P.O. number, and a short message.

Pinboards / Noticeboards
Community pinboards in most towns display flyers for services, events, and requests.
- To include images, paste a direct image link from Discord.
- Flyers posted in-town are also available on Discord under County Services > Pinboard.
- Please remove or replace outdated flyers; staff also clear pinboards regularly.
Recommendation:

to upload posters and grab a clean link to paste into the Pinboard.
Common Beginner Priorities
Build Income
Odd jobs, local opportunities, and starter work are a good early focus.
Secure Transport
A horse makes everyday travel and roleplay far easier.
Use Banks Properly
Do not carry more pocket money than you need.
Plan for Property Later
Housing is a longer-term goal, so learn the system early even if you buy later.
