County Laws

Official statutes and penalties for crimes committed within Onyx County jurisdiction.

General Information

This County Law Document outlines the laws, regulations, and penalties applicable within the jurisdiction of the county. It serves as a comprehensive guide for law enforcement, legal professionals, and citizens, detailing offenses ranging from minor misdemeanors to serious felonies.

Enforcement Guidelines

Law enforcement actions must be based on observable behavior, credible evidence, and events witnessed during roleplay. Officers are expected to assess each situation fairly and apply charges that accurately reflect the actions committed.

All detentions, searches, and arrests must fall within departmental authority and be supported by in-character justification. Use of force should be proportionate to the threat presented and escalated only when necessary.

Officers are required to follow proper arrest, processing, and evidence-handling procedures at all times. Failure to adhere to established enforcement standards may result in administrative or judicial review.

Appeals & Disputes

Individuals have the right to contest charges, fines, or sentencing through appropriate judicial channels. Appeals must be conducted in character and supported by evidence, testimony, or legal argument.

Disputes resolved through judicial proceedings take precedence over field decisions made by law enforcement. Judicial rulings are considered final unless overturned through approved administrative review.

Multiple Charges

Multiple criminal charges may be applied when a single incident involves several distinct offenses. Law enforcement may apply up to five (5) separate charges per individual incident.

  • Sheriff’s Office — may issue charges up to their designated maximums
  • U.S. Marshals — may issue charges up to their higher designated maximums
  • Judicial Review Required — any fines or sentence time exceeding departmental limits must be approved by a Judge or the County Authority

Identical charges may not be stacked. Repeated instances of the same offense within a single incident (e.g., stealing multiple horses) will result in one applicable charge, not multiple counts of the same crime.
